Field TripsField trips for 2012 are in the planning stage and will be posted here when available. You may be interested in the hikes below. Flora Cliff Hikes Registration is required for all events. Programs are limited to 15 participants. All events are $5 per person or $12 per family unless otherwise noted. Call 859-351-7770 to register or for more information. Winter Walk When: Saturday, January 28, 2012 Start time: 1:00 p.m. EDT Even though winter is the dormant season, there is still plenty to observe in our forests this time of year. Join Preserve Manager Beverly James on this leisurely hike to Elk Lick Falls and Elk Lick Creek with stops along the way to discuss trees, geology, signs of wildlife, and more. Hiking level is moderate. Wildflowers of Early Spring When: Saturday, March 24, 2012 Start time: 10:00 a.m. EDT Join us for the first wildflower hike of the season. We should see many early risers, such as trout lilies, bloodroot, hepatica, and twinleaf. Hiking level is moderate. Mid-week Wildflower Hike When: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 Start time: 10:00 a.m. EDT For those with some free time during the week, this will be a great chance to catch the early spring wildflowers. Hiking level is moderate. Wildflower Hike w/ Tara Littlefield When: Saturday, April 7, 2012 Start time: 1:00 p.m. EDT Botanist Tara Littlefield of the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission will lead this hike during the peak of our wildflower season. Hiking level is moderate.
