WW2026 Logo Design Packet & Botanical Guidelines for Artists

Thank you for your interest in the Kentucky Native Plant Society’s Wildflower Weekend 2026 Logo Design contest. This is an open design contest to come up with a logo design for WW2026. The logo will be used on t-shirts, hoodies, and coffee cups, as well as all publicity about the event.
The submitted designs will be presented to the KNPS membership for voting. The winner will be awarded $200. The artist will be recognized on the KNPS website. All submissions will become the property of KNPS.
The focus and star of the design must be the Pink Lady’s Slipper (Cypripedium acaule). The artistic rendering must be botanically accurate and stylized representations will be rejected. Composition and color pallet are up to the designer. To assist you, at the bottom of this page are a series of photos and descriptions of C. acaule.
In addition to the C. acaule, the design must include these text elements:
- Kentucky Native Plant Society
- Wildflower Weekend 2026 (optionally include April 17-18)
- Natural Bridge SRP (or Natural Bridge State Resort Park)
Digital image specifications:
- Design must be a single image.
- JPG, PNG and SVG formats will be the only formats accepted.
- Maximum file size 100 MiB (JPG, PNG) or 20 MiB (SVG)
- Print area size 3692 × 4800 px (300 DPI)
- Maximum resolution 30000 x 30000 px
The colors of the flowers and leaves of the Pink Lady’s Slipper should be correct for the species. As the images below show, there is a degree of variability in flower color so you will have some flexibility. The other colors used for the logo will be at the discretion of the artist. The logo will appear on two different background colors. Publicity and coffee mugs will be on white backgrounds. The t-shirts & hoodies will be a color called “Glidan Sport Grey”. This color can be replicated using the following specifications..

Your design must be submitted no later than January 16, 2026. The design file should be uploaded to the WW2026 Logo Design Contest Uploads folder.

Botanical Guidelines
Pink lady’s slipper is a large, showy wildflower belonging to the orchid family. It has two opposite basal leaves with conspicuous parallel veins and a large flower at the end of an erect stalk. The flower is magenta to whitish-pink; sometimes the whitish pink flowers will have darker pink venation.
